According to the new policy Finnish nationals who don’t hold a normal sticker visa, must hold a valid and approved ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) applied online latest 4 days before travel and show a print out of this ETA-authorisation to the airline to be accepted on a flight to India. It is still possible to obtain Tourist Visa on Arrival, but passengers need to obtain ETA-authorisation first.
Passenger obtains a Tourist Visa on Arrival for a max. stay of 30 days when the following criteria are met:
The objective of the visit must be either recreation, sightseeing, visit to meet friends or relatives, short duration medical treatment or casual business visit. If the objective is not one of the afore mentioned, then a normal sticker visa must be obtained from an Indian embassy prior to travel.
The ETA can be obtained online 4-30 days before travel at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/. The ETA fee is 60 USD (paid online). The ETA allows a single entry and is issued max. 2 times in a calendar year. Applying for a travel permit requires that the person has a scanned copy of a recent photograph and passport information page.
Holders of Official or Diplomatic passports are not eligible to travel with an ETA.

Kindly be informed about changes in PNR processing of passengers without issued tickets.
Effective from 15.1.2015 Finnair will implement a more restrictive ticketing time limit (TTL) on critical flights approximately 7 days before departure. The critical flight is defined as follows:
• Almost fully booked flight (PLF over 95%)
• There are unticketed PNRs on J,C,D,Y,B,H on this flight
• There are PNRs on waitlist in J,C,D,Y,B,H on this flight
The new time limit will be updated in the PNR by the end of next day with additional message "ATT AGENT NEW TTL APPLICABLE DUE TO FLIGHT CRITICAL /BOMAY”. The reservation will be subject to cancellation by automated PNR control of the flight segments concerned if the updated ticketing time limit is not observed.
For example if the new TTL is set on Thursday to the next day, the PNR will automatically cancel at 23:59 hours on Friday evening (night between Friday and Saturday), if no ticket is issued to the flight(s).
For weekend departures the new TTL will reflect the first business day.For further information on Finnair’s Booking & Ticketing Policy please refer to www.finnair.com/INT/GB/easy/ticketing/policies/booking-and-ticketing

For SSRs requiring manual confirmation our aim is to process them as quickly as possible. From time to time there might be congestions with incoming SSRs and we ask for your patience. In urgent cases for nearby departures you may contact your local Finnair Travel Agent Help Desk.
In scenarios with journeys well in the future and you need to issue the ticket due tight ticketing time limit and the SSR is not confirmed yet, Finnair is flexible. If the request for PRM*-passengers is declined due the quota is full on booked and ticketed flight, we can offer alternative flights without charge; same routing and the original AY/AY flight can be changed to AY/AY flight on the same day or +/- couple of days. If the situation so requires, also full refund may be offered. Please contact your local Finnair Travel Agent Help Desk for rebooking and consultation.
If you have doubts whether the SSR has transferred to Finnair queue or not you can check this by using the RTQ -command. More info available on HE RTQ.

Some facts about the new product:Economy Comfort is a new seating option within long haul economy class, NOT a 3rd cabin class.
All seats are free for PRO fares, but are charged for H class for joint business fares. However, due technicalities also AJB/SJB have free seating until further notice.
Instructions will also be updated here shortly.
More information about the co-operation can be read in this PowerPoint-presentation. Below detailed information about the seating onboard the train and check-in procedures at the railway stations. Shortly there will be an own Finnair+train -section in Easy.
Since the seating in Amadeus is made according to a "flight-seating" -mode, the customer will see a pseudo -seating number in the reservation itinerary and e-ticket itinerary. In the PNR on the SSR-lines you will however see correct seating. Therefore it is very important you inform the passenger the corresponding actual seat number onboard the train. The seating is always in coach number 2 and you can insert in the PNR on RIR (will show in reservation itinerary) and RIZ (will show in e-ticket itinerary) -lines the coach number and seating number.
Cryptic entry for Amadeus:
RIR YOUR SEAT ON THE TRAIN IS 35 IN COACH NUMBER 2
RIZ YOUR SEAT ON THE TRAIN IS 35 IN COACH NUMBER 2
You can before and after the RIR/RIZ -lines containing the seating information also insert RIR/RIZ -lines containing only '*' to increase the visibility.
Prepaid seating for the flights according to normal processes.
-In St. Petersburg the check-in is done in the railway station. After you have shown the passport to the clerk and it has been checked, you will be allowed to move to the platform area and coach number 2.
-In Helsinki you can go directly to the train and coach number 2.
Check-in document for the train is the passport. It is also good to have with a copy of the electronic ticket and if possible the seat-map converter. Naturally visa(s) must be brought with (and possible other travel documents depending on the nationality of the passenger).
The documents will be checked by both Finnish and Russian immigration officials; in good time before crossing the border and after crossing the border.
Q: Which booking classes and fares are available?
A: Fares are filed in connection with the following booking classes: I Y M L S N.
Q: How do I recognize which fares are available for the train+flight -itinerary?
A: In the farebasis you will see the letter combinations TR or TRN.
Q: Is there a business class available on the train?
A: Not with Finnair fares. If you book a fare in I-class, you book I on the flight, but then you must book Y on the train.
Q: Why must I give APIS -information for the train, since it is not required on flights to/from Russia?
A: This is mandatory requirement from the Russian authorities.
Q: How do the customer pay for additional luggage?
A: On the train you can have with as much as you can carry, for the flights according to allowance on ticket and pay as normal for extra luggage.
Q: Name change is not possible. What if I learn that a name correction needs to be done?
A1: 15 days and more before departure: As you would do with any AY-ticket
A2: Less than 15 days before departure: Contact Finnair Help Desk
Q: Can I book the train to/from Tikkurila station (HVT)?
A: Not yet, earliest summer 2015.
Q: Is codeshare possible on the flights?

Q: Can a domestic flight within Finland be booked?
A: No, only international flights from/to Helsinki allowed.
Q: Can I do on-line check-in for the train?

Q: Is the transportation between the railway station and the airport included in the ticket price?
A: No, it is at the customer's own expense.
Q: What if there is an irregularity situation; the train is delayed or cancelled etc.?
A: Finnair will evaluate the situation and seek to find the best solution for the customer. This is why it is important to have the customer's contact details in the PNR, both cell phone number and e-mail address.

This reminder is for issuance of PENF sold in and ticketed in any country and in connection with a ticket containing flights within Finland only.
Please remember to separate the VAT in the tax panel, if you create a manual TSM-P for PENF. When using Amadeus Ticket Changer (ATC), the tax break-down is automatically created.
If the penalty is total 50 euro, the 10% VAT (tax-code YFGO) is 4.55 euro and basefare is 45.45 euro.

Amadeus travel agencies can already book airline fare families via Amadeus and easily access important information on fare conditions, as well as services and options associated to a specific fare family.
The new upsell functionalities include:
- the price by fare family transaction
- the upsell teaser, an additional appended message line returned upon any pricing/best pricing transaction that highlights the price difference between the priced fare and the lowest fare in the next higher fare family.
- the upsell transaction that returns up to 6 proposals in the next higher fare families from an already priced or not PNR.
Once the teaser or the various upsell proposals have been displayed, it is possible to easily rebook the PNR in the proposed fare.
travel agencies worldwide will benefit from the ability to easily upsell for
those airlines that have subscribed to the solution. Easy flow will enable to
offer customers higher fares that bring more value (such as additional services, more
flexibility, extra mileage accrual). They will also be able to easily rebook
in the proposed fares.

Finnair resumes the use of West Ukrainian airspace for some of its flights as of August 27. Several European airlines already use West Ukrainian airspace and there have been no restrictions in the use of the airspace in West Ukraine.
Finnair may use West Ukrainian airspace for example on its flights to Bulgaria, Israel, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Eastern Europe and Southern Europe, when it is feasible, taking into account weather conditions and other factors impacting the choice of flight routes.
Finnair adheres to the guidance of Eurocontrol, European Aviation Safety Agency and local authorities when choosing its flights routes in Europe.
There are still flight restrictions in the Crimean area and in Eastern Ukraine, and Finnair has avoided the use of airspace in these areas since this spring. Flight restriction areas over these conflict areas have built-in safety marginal and they are thus considerably larger than the crisis areas.

It is now possible to issue EMD also in cases when the chargeable SSR (eg. prepaid seat, prepaid baggage*) is sold on a Finnair flight, but the e-ticket is issued on other carrier stock. This can be done in travel agencies when the flight is prime Finnair flight (marketed and operated by Finnair). In code share flights when flight is marketed by other carrier and operated by Finnair, the ancillary services can be sold on AY operated flight only by calling Finnair Contact Center.
EMD vs. Light iEMD
E-ticket and EMD issued by Finnair: Pricing of SSR and issuance according to normal processes and the result is a normal EMD (association information on e-ticket and EMD coupons is visible)
E-ticket issued by other airline, EMD issued by AY: Pricing of SSR and issuance according to normal processes and the result is Light iEMD (association to OAL e-ticket coupon is shown on AY EMD, but there is no association information on the OAL e-ticket)
Light iEMD can only be issued by Amadeus (1A) users so far.
*Please note that prepaid baggage (SSR PDBG) as Light iEMD cannot be issued, if there is a direct connection without stop-over between 2 or more airlines. Baggage exceeding the allowance involving several airlines on the itinerary can only be paid at the airport.

Finnair extends its deepest sympathies to those affected by the tragic flight accident in Ukraine on Malaysia Airlines' flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. It is a tragic event for the whole aviation community. Finnair stands by its oneworld partner Malaysia Airlines and is ready to assist in any way it can.
Many people have since asked about Finnair flight practices and the potential impact of the tragic event on Finnair operations and routes.
Since late April, Finnair has not flown in the airspace of Eastern Ukraine, following the recommendations of Eurocontrol. Eurocontrol recommended last spring that airlines should not fly in the airspace of Simferopolin in the Crimea crisis area in Eastern Ukraine. Finnair has no regular flights that would fly in the Dnipropetrovski airspace where the accident took place yesterday.
Finnair has continued flights in Western Ukrainian airspace and Eurocontrol has not had any flight restriction recommendations regarding this particular area.
Yesterday evening, however, Finnair decided that the company will not fly in Ukrainian airspace at all on Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19. The company will evaluate the situation very carefully over these days and consider the recommendations and decisions of the aviation authorities when making any further decisions.
The alternative routes bypassing Ukraine are slightly longer and therefore some Eastern Mediterranean flights might be slightly delayed. It is also possible that the changes will indirectly cause minor delays in some other flights due to fleet rotation. Finnair regrets any inconvenience this might cause to its passengers but wants to emphasize its commitment to safety.Finnair's Asian flights to and from Helsinki are flown using routes further north and are therefore not impacted by events in Ukraine.
Waitlists are handled directly via the PNR and you will see the answer directly or with a short delay for E- and U-class. For E- and U-class you queue the request to TAYAY0550 Q15.
SSRs will be handled via the PNR and you will see the answer directly or with a short delay.
Kindly note that the above mentioned requests are not handled via phone.
Following extract is taken from Department of Home Affairs, South Africa. Please see important information highlighted in red.
"The Department of Home Affairs has provided a grace period to allow children to travel with parents or guardians without an unabridged birth certificate until end of September 2014.
This means that families will be able to travel with children even for the coming school holidays as some would have made the necessary arrangements ahead of the commencement of the Immigration Amendment Acts of 2007 and 2011 and the new Immigration Regulations. The Amendment Acts and the new Regulations came into effect on 26 May 2014.
From 01 October 2014, the requirement for an unabridged birth certificate for children travelling with parents will come into effect for the safety of children, including their protection from child trafficking, abduction and kidnapping.
The Department urges citizens and foreign nationals to heed the call to apply for unabridged birth certificates for children. An unabridged birth certificate of the child reflecting the particulars of the parents is required in terms of the Immigration Regulation 6 (12)(a) for children travelling with parents."
