- How do I join Finnair Plus?
Finnair Plus is Finnair’s frequent flyer program. It’s quick and easy to sign up, and there’s three ways to send us your application – you can fill in the application form on our website, send us your application on paper (you can download the form from our website) or sign up when you book a flight. If you are under 18 years of age, you can join our frequent flyer program for young travellers, Finnair Plus Junior.
- Where can I find information about current and upcoming benefits?
You’ll find comprehensive information about all the latest benefits on the Finnair Plus website under About Finnair Plus. The best way to find out about upcoming offers is to subscribe to the Finnair Plus newsletter – just go to the Finnair Plus website and click My Finnair Plus Account / Update Your Profile.
- I’ve forgotten my password – what should I do?
You can retrieve your forgotten password here. To do so, you only need your username and last name. Your username is your membership number without the AY prefix and with no spaces between the numbers. You’ll receive the new password by email or as a text message. You can change the password you receive by signing in to your member profile, choosing ‘Update profile’ and writing your new password in the ‘Choose your password’ box.
- Can I open a Finnair Plus account for my business or family?
Finnair Plus membership is personal, which means that collective membership for families or businesses is not possible. However, you can transfer award points to family members. To transfer points, contact the Finnair Plus Service Center, on +358 9 818 888 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm). There is a service charge for each transfer.
- How can I update my contact information and other account details?
To update your contact information and other account details, or give us permission to contact you via e-mail or text message, please log in to the Finnair Plus website and click My Finnair Plus Account.
- How do I find out my Finnair Plus point balance?
You’ll find your current point balance in your Finnair Plus newsletter, which you’ll receive once a month via e-mail. Alternatively, you can check your online point statement, which shows you how many tier and award points you’ve earned, as well as when they’re going to expire ¬– just log in to the Finnair Plus website and click Point info. If some of your award points are about to expire, don’t worry, as there’s plenty of great ways to spend them – why not try the Finnair PlusShop?
- What is the difference between tier points and award points?
You earn award points when you take scheduled flights operated by Finnair and the other oneworld airlines, or buy products and services from Finnair Plus partners. There’s plenty of exciting ways to spend your award points on Finnair Plus awards.
You earn tier points when you take Finnair flights or scheduled international flights operated by oneworld airlines. Collecting tier points allows you to move up through the Finnair Plus membership tiers – with each tier upgrade, you’ll get access to even more varied and valuable benefits.
- How do I qualify for the next Finnair Plus tier?
There are four Finnair Plus tiers – Basic, Silver, Gold and Platinum. In order to move from one tier to the next, you need to collect sufficient tier points by taking flights operated by Finnair or the other oneworld airlines. You can check your tracking period and your point balance by logging in to the Finnair Plus website and clicking My Finnair Plus Account / Point info.
If you need some extra tier points to stay in your current tier or move up to the next tier, you can exchange award points for tier points. 15,000 award points can be exchanged for 5,000 tier points. You can exchange points via the Finnair Plus Service Center, on +358 9 818 888 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm). There is a service fee of €20 for each exchange.
- I've lost my Finnair Plus card – what should I do?
You can order a replacement Finnair Plus membership card through the Finnair Plus website or by calling the Finnair Plus Service Center on +358 9 818 888 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm). Before you order your replacement card, please make sure that your address details are up to date in your Finnair Plus profile. You’ll receive your replacement card by post in approximately three weeks, but in the meantime, you can continue to use your Finnair Plus membership number as usual – your number will not change when you get a new card.
If you’ve lost your Finnair Plus credit card, please contact the card issuer immediately.
- I have over 40,000 points in my account – can I become a Silver tier member?
You move from tier to tier by collecting tier points. In order to move up to the Silver tier, you need to collect 40,000 tier points during your personal 12-month tracking period. You earn tier points when you take scheduled flights operated by Finnair or the other oneworld airlines.
When you buy products and services from Finnair Plus partners, you earn award points, which you can spend on Finnair Plus awards. Unlike tier points, award points do not allow you to move up through the Finnair Plus membership tiers.
You can check your award and tier point balance, as well as your tracking period, by logging in to the Finnair Plus website and clicking My Finnair Plus Account / Point info.
- I’m a Finnair Plus Junior member and my 18th birthday is coming up – when do I get my Finnair Plus membership card?
We’ll send you your Finnair Plus Basic membership card automatically, and it should arrive no later than one month after your 18th birthday. Any award points that you’ve collected during your Finnair Plus Junior membership are valid for three years from the date that you become a standard Finnair Plus member.
- I need 4,500 tier points to move up to the Silver tier – can I buy these points?

Your Silver tier membership is valid for 12 months. In order to renew your membership, you need to collect 40,000 tier points during your current tracking period.
- Are there any restrictions on earning points?
You can earn points when you take scheduled flights operated by Finnair or its partners. In the case of partner flights, the operating airline printed on your ticket must be a Finnair partner and the flight must be operated using that partner’s aircraft.
You can’t earn points for the following types of ticket: tickets in certain booking classes; complimentary, contractual, award, barter or travel-agency-discounted tickets; and tickets for children under two years travelling without their own seat.
There are restrictions regarding earning points when you buy products and services from Finnair Plus partners. For example, you can’t earn points on discounted car rental or hotel accommodation.
You can earn points for only one customer loyalty program at a time.
You can’t earn points when you purchase awards – for example, award flights and partner awards – or discounted products and services.
- How are my points credited to my account?
The points you earn when you take a flight will be credited to your account automatically, as long as you give your membership number when you book that flight and show your membership card when you check in.
You can also earn points with Finnair Plus partners, so remember to show your membership card every time you purchase partner products or services. We recommend that you keep all documentation concerning such transactions until your points have been credited to your account.
- Can I earn points for Finnair leisure flights?
You can earn points for Finnair leisure flights departing from Finland (flight numbers AY1001–3000) provided that you show your Finnair Plus membership card when you check in for your outbound flight from Finland. If you do so, you’ll earn points for the entire round trip – both the outbound and inbound journeys.
- How can I claim missing flight points?
Save your flight ticket stubs, e-ticket itinerary and original boarding passes until the associated points have been credited to your account. If your points are still missing three weeks after you took a Finnair scheduled flight or a flight with certain partners of ours, you can submit the missing points yourself through ‘My Finnair Plus’ > ‘Missing points’.
- I bought something from a Finnair Plus partner but I didn’t have my membership card with me – can I still claim my points?
Unfortunately, it’s not always possible to retroactively claim points for purchases made from Finnair Plus partners. Therefore, we advise you to keep your Finnair Plus membership card with you at all times, not just when you’re travelling.

- Why are there transactions in my Finnair Plus account for zero points?
The most likely reason for this is that the associated flight has been booked under a name that differs from that recorded in your Finnair Plus account. Please check your name by logging in to the Finnair Plus website and clicking XXXXXX / YYYYYY – you can make any necessary changes via the Finnair Plus Service Center on +358 9 818 888 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm).
- Can I transfer points to someone else?
You can transfer award points to members of your family via the Finnair Plus Service Center, on +358 9 818 888 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm). There is a service fee for each transfer.
You can also use your points to purchase awards for family members, as well as other people in your household.
- Can I use my points to pay excess baggage charges?
You can use your points to pay excess baggage charges for all Finnair flights (flights operated with Finnair aircraft and with an “AY” flight number on the ticket). The point cost depends on whether your flight is within Finland, within Scandinavia, within Europe or intercontinental. More information about excess baggage charges is available on the Finnair Plus website under Use your points / Excess baggage charges.
- When do my points expire?
Your points are valid for three years from the date that you earned them. Expired points are automatically deleted from your account, so it’s a good idea to check your point balance regularly to see if there are any that you need to use soon. You can check your balance on the Finnair Plus website by clicking My Finnair Plus Account / Point info. And remember, if you need to spend points fast, the Finnair PlusShop is a great place to do it!
- My friend received a check-in text message – why didn’t I get this opportunity?
Please check that your Finnair Plus profile information is up to date, particularly your mobile phone number and messaging settings – go to the Finnair Plus website and click My Finnair Plus Account / Update Your Profile. While you’re there, it’s a good idea to make sure your seating preferences and dietary needs information is correct. - I received a text message about a travel class upgrade – what does this mean?
You can use your points to upgrade from Economy Class to Business Class on all Finnair scheduled international flights departing from Helsinki, provided that there are Business Class seats available. If you receive a text message offering you a travel class upgrade and would like to take advantage of that offer, it’s a good idea to do so as quickly as possible, because seat availability is limited.
Whether or not you can upgrade your travel class depends on a number of factors, including flight type, seat availability, whether you have sufficient points in your account to pay for the upgrade and – in the case of Finnair Plus Gold and Platinum members – whether you have any travel-class-upgrade tier benefits remaining.
If you receive a travel-class-upgrade text message after you have checked in, you do not have to check in again.
- I booked return flights using a Finnair Classic award and have collected my tickets – can I still change my flights?
You can change Finnair Classic award flights and can even change your return flight after your outbound flight has departed. To change a flight or find out more, contact the Finnair Plus Service Center on 09 818 888 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm). There is a service charge of €50 per person for each change.
- Can I buy something from the Finnair PlusShop even if I don’t have any points?
Yes, you can buy products from the Finnair PlusShop using money only. Don’t forget to sign in first using your Finnair Plus login – that way you’ll earn one point for every euro you spend!
- My friend got an interesting e-mail from Finnair about wine – why didn’t I get one?
Make sure that your contact, hobbies and interests information is up to date in your Finnair Plus profile – go to the Finnair Plus website and click My Finnair Plus Account / Update Your Profile. If you let us know about your hobbies and interests, we’ll send you targeted offers and benefits.
