How can I chat with Finnair Customer service?
You can chat live with our Customer service while making your reservation in the booking service and get personal assistance on any questions related to purchasing flight tickets. You can also find the chat in Manage booking and on most baggage-related pages.
The chat is available on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (UTC +2). You can see the chat button on the right hand corner of the page whenever there is a customer servant ready for a live conversation.
Please note that some issues cannot be solved through live chat. If we need your credit card details for the payment of a ticket or any other service, for security reasons you will be asked to contact our Customer service by phone.
How do I change the date and/or time of my booking?
If the ticket type you purchased allows you to change the date and/or time of your flight, you can do it through the Manage booking service on the homepage.
Please check the conditions of the ticket type you’ve purchased from your booking confirmation. You can also find information about our ticket types here.
How do I cancel my booking?
Tickets can be cancelled by using the Manage booking service on the homepage.
Depending on the type of ticket you purchased, you may be eligible for a refund. Please check the conditions of the ticket type you’ve purchased from your booking confirmation. You can also find information about our ticket types here.
You can claim a ticket refund by filling in a refund form. If you purchased the flight ticket or the additional service from another airline or from a travel agent, please contact them for the refund.
Do I need to print my boarding pass?
Depending on the requirements of airport authorities, you will need to present a mobile boarding pass, a paper boarding pass printed out by you, or a paper boarding pass picked up from the check-in desk. The online check-in service will give you all the information you need regarding what to do after check-in and which documents you need to take with you to the airport.
What is a Light ticket?
Light is the new lowest-fare option in Finnair’s ticket type selection. The Light ticket type is especially designed for passengers travelling with carry-on baggage only. It is still possible to carry checked baggage by paying for extra baggage separately via Manage booking.
What is a mobile boarding pass?
Mobile boarding pass is an electronic document that enables customers to pass security and board the aircraft by using their mobile device. Mobile boarding pass can be opened from an SMS or e-mail link in mobile browser or in Passbook application (iPhone with iOS6 or higher). In Passbook it can also be opened from an e-mail attachment.
You can send yourself a mobile boarding pass in online or mobile check-in or receive it from the automatic check-in when airport authorities at the departure airport have permitted the use of it. Otherwise you are asked to print a boarding pass or to pick it up from the check-in desk.
Mobile boarding pass requires internet connection when the boarding pass is opened to the browser or saved as Passbook. If you are not able to open the link, please pick up a paper boarding pass from the check-in desk.
How much does it cost to change my ticket?
The total cost of the change depends on your airfare, your ticket conditions, and any penalties or fees that may apply.
If you have chosen a fare that allows changes, in addition to the change fee stated in ticket conditions, we collect a service fee. If there are no longer seats in the original booking class, you change the routing, or e.g. the minimum stay of your original ticket is no longer fulfilled, the difference between fares and taxes is also collected.

I am a student. Am I entitled to an additional free baggage allowance?
Tickets bought from us have the standard baggage allowance. We recommend that you contact a local travel agency that specializes in student travel, as they may have fares that include additional baggage in the price.
Who do I contact if I have lost property at an airport or on board a Finnair flight?
If you have accidentally left a personal item with us, whether on one of our aircraft, in one of our buildings or in one of the public areas of Helsinki Airport, you can enquire about it from the Finland’s Found Property Service, call +358 600 41 006. If you have left a personal item at any other airport, please contact the airport in question.
How do I check in at finnair.com?
You can check in 36 hours prior to your departure for all Finnair-operated flights departing from Finland, and most Finnair flights departing from abroad. For flights to the USA, check-in opens 24 hours before departure.
The service is not available for flights departing from Pisa, Dubrovnik, Split, Dalaman, Ljubljana, Tenerife North and Alanya (Gazipasa).
Start check-in here with your last name and booking reference or e-ticket number. Check the booking reference or e-ticket number from your e-ticket itinerary. Enter your 6 digit booking reference (for example Y2KP3D) and last name exactly as it is on your ticket.
Please note that you might need to enter passport details during the check-in process.
Check-in for flights bought from a tour operator is started with the booking reference you have received from the tour operator, and your last name.
