Amsterdam

Amsterdam, a city of canals and tulips, has only 700,000 inhabitants but boasts over a million bicycles. Riding a bicycle is indeed an excellent way to get to know Amsterdam, where all sights are all within reasonable distances and the atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried.

Amsterdam has more than 40 museums, the highest number in the world proportionate to the size of the city. You just can't miss out the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum depicting art from Amsterdam's golden era the 1600s, or the house of Anne Frank from your itinerary.

A perfect way to rest after a tour at the museums is to take a canal cruise or stop at any of the fascinating little cafes in the Jordaan district. When the weather is nice, the locals head to the Vondelpark for a picnic. The park is also a venue for free concerts and theatre performances in the summertime.
