Russia: Finnair flights over Russian airspace

August 8 - 10:00 UTC

At this stage, Finnair has not received official information about possible overflight restrictions in Russian airspace, and all Finnair flights between Europe and Asia are planned to be operated normally. If there are any disruptions or delays for any reasons, customers will be informed via text message. You can update your contact information in your booking on Finnair web page at Manage booking.

Ukraine: Finnair is monitoring the situation and will follow the recommendations of the aviation authorities

August 8 - 10:00 UTC

Finnair has made a decision not to fly in Ukrainian aerospace for the time being. The company will evaluate the situation very carefully and consider the recommendations and decisions of the aviation authorities when making any further decisions.

The alternative routes bypassing Ukraine are slightly longer and therefore some Eastern Mediterranean flights might be slightly delayed. It is also possible that the changes will indirectly cause minor delays in some other flights due to fleet rotation. Finnair regrets any inconvenience this might cause to its passengers but wants to emphasize its commitment to safety.

Finnair's Asian flights to and from Helsinki are flown using routes further north and are therefore not impacted by the events in Ukraine.

Enhanced security measures at certain airports when flying to the USA

July 11 - 18:30

When flying to the United States from certain airports, e.g. Paris or London, during the security examination officers may ask you to power up your electronic devices, e.g. mobile phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, game consoles and MP3 players. Powerless devices will not be permitted to the aircraft as carry-on baggage. If you are travelling to the USA, please do all you can to ensure that items you bring with you are fully powered, and arrive at the airport and at your departure gate well in advance.

For more information, please contact the airline operating the intercontinental flight.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this might cause you.
