    From London city centre to London Heathrow Airport

    London Heathrow Airport is located approximately 25 kilometres from the centre of London.

    You can reach London city centre by using the London Underground. The Piccadilly Line train operates regularly between London Heathrow Airport and the London region. The travel time is about an hour. For the London Underground schedules, visit the London Underground journey planner.

    A faster but slightly more expensive way to reach London is to take the Heathrow Express, departing every 15 minutes. The trip takes roughly 15 minutes and the Express is easily accessible from the airport terminals.

Newspapers are free of charge for both Economy and Business Class passengers on Finnair flights from Helsinki to Tokyo. Finnair’s monthly in-flight magazine Blue Wings is reserved for every passenger.

Both Economy and Business Class seats on our Airbus A340–300 aircraft used on our flights to Tokyo are equipped with a personal entertainment system and video screen. Additionally, every seat has a power socket that allows you to charge your laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

Arriving at Tokyo

Tokyo Narita International Airport

Narita International Airport is located 65 kilometres northeast of Tokyo.

The fastest way to travel between the airport and Tokyo is on the Narita Express running to all major urban areas in and around Tokyo, including Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and Yokohama. The express train ride from Tokyo to Narita takes about an hour.

Finnair lounge at Tokyo Airport

You will find Finnair’s lounge, the Quantas Business Lounge in the satellite terminal. It’s located on level 2 on the airside after security control and immigration. The Finnair lounge is available to Finnair Plus Platinum members, Finnair Plus Gold members, Finnair Plus Silver members, Finnair Club members and Business Class passengers. Transferring within terminals at Tokyo Airport

All Finnair flights arrive at and depart from Terminal 2, check-in area D. Codeshare flights with Japan Airlines are also operated from Terminal 2.

If you are transferring between oneworld airlines and already have your boarding pass, you can proceed directly to your departure gate.

If you are connecting from an international flight to a domestic flight, you are required to collect your luggage and clear passport control before proceeding to the domestic check-in area.

If your connecting flight leaves from Terminal 1, please proceed to the bus stops on the 1st floor and take the Terminal Shuttle Bus to Terminal 1.

Good to know before your flight

The most important thing to remember before your flight is to ensure that your passport and visas are valid throughout your whole journey; many countries require that your passport is valid for three to six months after your trip has ended.

When booking your flight, always ensure that your name is spelled the same way on both your flight ticket and passport. Take a look at our checklist before your flight for more information.

Check in for your flight in Tokyo

  • We recommend using online or mobile check-in before arriving at the airport. You can check in for your flight up to 36 hours before your flight's departure time.
  • If you haven’t reserved a seat in advance, you can choose your seat from those that are available, free of charge, when checking in for your flight.
  • Airport check-in and Bag Drop desks open three hours before departure.
  • Check-in closes one hour before departure.
  • Priority Lane through security control for Business Class passengers as well as for Finnair Plus Platinum, Gold and Silver members.
  • Allow yourself enough time to leave your baggage at Bag Drop and to go through airport security checks, as you may have to queue, particularly at peak times. See minimum check-in times
