The mediaeval Old Town of Tallinn is the perfect setting for a romantic movie. Narrow streets lead you from the Town Hall Square through arched vaults to courtyards containing charming cafes and handicraft shops. Homes of 17th century merchants have been renovated into quaint hotels and restaurants offering anything from mediaeval treats to modern gourmet dishes. Famed for its nightlife, Tallinn will keep you entertained until the early hours of the morning.
There is plenty to see in the Old Town, but a stroll or tram ride outside the city centre is also something worth considering. This will lead you to the baroque palace of Kadriorg with its art exhibitions and parks, the modern art museum KUMU or the Museum of Occupations which is dedicated to the history of Tallinn during the Soviet and Nazi occupations. The beautiful beaches at Pirita and Stroomi are comparable to those in Southern Europe.
