Oslo

Oslo offers a fascinating combination of wilderness and city life. You can visit the small islands of the Oslo fjord and enjoy the musical delights and award-winning architecture of the Oslo opera house – all in one day. Beaches, ski and trekking tracks almost in the centre of the city make you want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. But there is plenty to do indoors too: take time to visit the trendy cafes and boutiques at Grünerløkka, admire the picturesque wooden houses at Rodeløkka or visit one of the many museums.
Famous for its winter sports competitions, Holmenkollen ski jump houses the world’s oldest museum specialising in skis and the history of skiing. You can also visit the starting platform for a glimpse of the breathtaking view ahead of the brave ski jumpers. When visiting the Bygdøy peninsula, do not miss the Viking Ship Museum or the ship Fram, a wooden icebreaker used in expeditions on the Arctic and the North Pole. Visit the National Gallery to see the famous Scream by Edvard Munch. The Vigeland Sculpture Park is filled with magnificent sculptures and makes an ideal spot for a picnic.
