Earn and use points
As a Finnair Plus member, you can collect points in many ways – and you also have many ways to use them. You earn points by using the services of Finnair and Finnair Plus partners, and you can use your points to claim award flights, make purchases in the PlusShop and benefit from the services of Finnair’s wide partner network.
Earn points
Finnair flights
When you fly on Finnair scheduled flights, you earn points that increase both your award point balance and your tier point balance. The collected points are valid for three years.
The number of points received for a flight is based on the booking class and the distance in kilometres between the departure city and the arrival city. Business and Economy Class tickets have several booking classes based on the ticket price, date of the booking and whether the booking may be changed. For certain booking classes, we award 25 or 50 per cent of the normal Economy Class point accumulation and double the points for flights in Business Class. For some routes, we award a fixed number of points not based on the length of the flight.
You also earn points for Finnair leisure flights (AY1000 series). Please remember to present your Finnair Plus membership card at check-in in Finland when travelling on a Finnair leisure flight, because points are not granted retroactively for leisure flights. No points are granted for other charter flights (for example AY7000 series special charter flights).
oneworld flights
As a Finnair Plus member, you can collect points from all scheduled flights with oneworld alliance companies.
oneworld airline flights also accrue Finnair Plus tier points.
The number of points earned is based on the booking class of the flight. Check the points earned from a oneworld flight from the table.
Code-share flights
Finnair Plus members can increase their point balance on hundreds of different routes. To offer the best possible route network, more departures and a smoother service, Finnair has made many cooperation agreements (code-share) with other airlines. Many of these airlines are not Finnair Plus partners.
A code-share flight always has two flight numbers; Finnair (AY) and partner airline flight number. If your ticket is issued under the Finnair quota (it has an AY code), you receive Finnair Plus points for your flight according to our normal table.

Use your points
Finnair award flights
You can use your points for travelling. Take advantage of affordable money + point offers, redeem Classic flight awards or pay for Any Seat flight awards with your chosen combination of money and points. You can also buy travel packages to Finnair scheduled flight destinations from the wide selection of Finnair Plus Tours.
Plus members’ immediate family members and members of the same household can also use award flights.
In addition to your points, you only need to pay taxes and passenger fees for award journeys.
Finnair PlusShop
Finnair PlusShop is a new online shop, where you can pay with your Plus points or a combination of points and money. PlusShop has the best special offers and a wide variety of high-quality products from well-known manufactures.

With our partner benefits, you can collect points for hotel accommodation or receive discounts for car rentals, for example.
Travel-class upgrade
You can use your points to upgrade your travel class – for example, you can pay the Economy Class price to travel in Business Class.
Travel-class upgrades are only available for Finnair scheduled flights (Finnair aircraft and AY code on the ticket).
Finnair Plus Platinum and Gold tier members are eligible for travel-class upgrades as a member benefit with no points charge.

Rules and restrictions for travel-class upgrades
- Finnair Plus awards may be used by Finnair Plus members, their close relatives and persons living in the same household
- The corresponding number of points or Gold and Platinum member benefit upgrades will be debited from the account when booking the award.
- Travel-class upgrades are always done by the Finnair Plus Service Center after the Economy Class reservation has been confirmed and the flight ticket has been redeemed.
- The upgrade may not be confirmed until a few days before the flight, depending on the availability of seats on the aircraft.
- The award has no effect on the rules governing Economy Class tickets.
- The passenger will travel in Economy Class in the event that the flight has to be rerouted.
- Economy Class points are always awarded according to the original booking class for an Economy Class flight ticket.
- Only a limited number of seats are available for travel-class upgrade booking classes.
- Travel-class upgrades are not available at specified times and on certain routes.
Exchanging award points for tier points
To help you ensure that you’ll have enough tier points to move up to the next tier level or maintain your current level, you can now exchange your Finnair Plus award points for tier points. When exchanging points, 15,000 Plus points is equal to 5,000 tier points. The exchanged tier points are valid until the end of your current tracking period.
To exchange points, contact the Finnair Plus Service Center on +358 9 818 888. Points can be exchanged in batches of 5,000 tier points, and no more than half of the tier points required to reach the next tier level can be acquired in this way. For example, 40,000 tier points are needed to achieve the Silver tier level, of which 20,000 can be acquired with award points. You will be charged €20 for each transaction.
Excess baggage charges
Excess baggage charges may be paid using points on Finnair flights (Finnair aircraft and AY code on the ticket).

The excess baggage voucher entitles you to one piece of luggage, one small piece of special baggage or one piece of sporting equipment (up to 23 kg). The voucher is valid for one year. No refunds are given for unused vouchers. Excess baggage vouchers may not be used for animal transport.

Transferring points to family members
Plus reward points can now be transferred between the accounts of family members. Transferred points do not increase the amount of Finnair Plus tier points.
The transfer is carried out at the Finnair Plus Service Center for a cost of €20.
