Terms and conditions for the Business Class upgrade service

Use of Finnair's Internet pages is conditional upon you adhering to the terms and conditions:

1. Business Class upgrade product

Finnair is offering a possibility to purchase a business class service for selected passengers travelling in economy class in Finnair long haul destinations.

Business class upgrade offer is only available for selected customers who have purchased an economy ticket for Finnair long haul flights, Helsinki - Asia & North America and vice versa.

Business class upgrade offer is

  • sent by email
  • valid 48h from the time offer has been sent to customer
  • not transferable to other AY flights

Business class upgrade payment can be done by

  • Payment methods: common credit cards VISA and MasterCard, internet banking in Finland
  • Points: if you are Finnair Plus member
  • Money / points mixture; customer can select the amount of points utilized and pay rest with money

Business class fare is customer specific and upgrade is not transfearable to another person

Business class upgrade can be only purchased by person who is 18 years or older

Finnair gives an opportunity to passenger who is eligible for upgrade offer a possibility to purchase upgrade up to 4 persons travelling within same reservation Passenger Name Record (PNR).

Finnair cannot guarantee the business class seat availability during the offer validity period, since the seat availability is always limited. Finnair reserves the right to limit the business class seat availability at any time.

2. Business Class service

Business class upgrade fee includes following service items

  • Business Class check-in
  • Priority security in Helsinki-Airport
  • AY lounge services at departing airport
  • 2 baggage (á max. 23kg)
  • Business class meal
  • Finnair Plus Points according to the original economy class

3. Refund

Note: business class service cannot be cancelled, unless the whole flight is cancelled.

3.1 If your flight has been cancelled due to Finnair

If your flight is cancelled, Finnair will reroute your flight:

  • If rerouted flight is operated by AY, reservation class will be done in business
  • If rerouted flight is operated by other carriers, reservation class will be in economy

If business class service is not available due to the rerouting, following refund policy applies:

  • Cash: 100% refund of upgrade paid cash fare
  • Points: 100% refund of used points

3.2 If you have cancelled or changed your flight

a) Cancellation of the flight

  • Economy ticket; original rules apply.
  • Following refund policy applies for the business upgrade;
  • Cash refund: 50% refund of upgrade fare if cancellation done at least 3 days (72 hours) before the departure. Note; no refund if cancellation is done within 72 hours before the flight departure.
  • Points refund: 100% refund of used points

b) Change of flight

  • Economy ticket; original rules apply.
  • Business upgrade service
  • To Finnair flight: Finnair will upgrade you to business class, if the same booking class is available. Otherwise refund applies.

    Cash refund: 50% refund of upgrade price fare if cancellation done at least 3 days (72 hours) before the departure. Note; no refund if cancellation is done within 72 hours before the flight departure.

    Points refund: 100% refund of used points

  • Other carriers: rerouting will happen in economy, refund applies.

    Cash refund: 50% refund of upgrade price fare if cancellation done at least 3 days (72 hours) before the departure. Note; no refund if cancellation is done within 72 hours before the flight departure.

    Points refund: 100% refund of used points
