Hong Kong

Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a melting pot of the eastern and western cultures, a shopper's paradise and a fast-paced metropolis located in the middle of breathtaking nature. You can start your city holiday by, for example, taking the Star Ferry to Kowloon, where only the imagination is the limit in the offerings of the street market. Those looking for a more laid-back atmosphere will find what they need at the popular Repulse Bay Beach.

The astounding view to the turquoise Pacific Ocean from Victoria Peak leaves you speechless, and the Ocean Park Amusement Park, aquariums and giant pandas appeal to the entire family. The dozens of enormous shopping centres make a shopper's head spin. The half-hour ferry ride to the Lantau Island takes you light-years away from the pulsating city life: instead of skyscrapers, the peaceful island is the home of temples and monasteries, fishing villages, magnificent hiking routes and solitary sandy beaches.

Must see:

The Chinese New Year with fireworks and paper lanterns, January-February.

Fun fact:

There is a gaping hole in the wall of the most famous house in Repulse Bay. Locals say dragons use the hole to drink water from the bay.
