Earn points when you fly

See the world and earn points
When you fly Finnair, you’ll earn both award points and tier points. Your award points can be spent in many exciting ways – for example, on partner products and services – whereas your tier points allow you to move up through the Finnair Plus membership tiers, giving you access to even more varied and exciting benefits.
Select your point of departure, destination and airline to see how many points you’ll earn for your flight.
Every point you earn is valuable
Each point is valuable, so remember to give your Finnair Plus membership number or show your Finnair Plus card every time you make a flight reservation.
See What are award points for more information.
Collecting Finnair Plus points is easy, and because award points valid for three years, you’ve got plenty of time to make the most of them. The number of award points you’ll earn for a particular flight is based on the following:
- the distance between the origin and the destination in kilometres
- when the flight is
- the booking class of your ticket
Economy Class and Business Class tickets are available in several booking classes. The booking class of your ticket depends upon:
- its price
- when it was booked
- its flexibility and conditions of change
With certain Economy Class booking classes, you’ll receive 25% or 50% of the standard point award, and with certain Business Class booking classes, you’ll receive double the standard point award. Some of our flights carry a fixed point award that is not based on the duration of the flight.
As a Finnair Plus member you’ll also earn points when you take Finnair leisure flights (AY1000 series). The number of points you’ll earn is based on rules that are specific to leisure flights – see Point awards for Finnair leisure flights to find out how many points you’ll earn for a particular flight. If you’re travelling on a Finnair leisure flight, please remember to show your Finnair Plus membership card at the check-in desk when you depart from Finland, because points cannot be awarded retroactively after your trip.
You cannot earn points when you take charter flights – for example, special charter flights (flight numbers AY7000–AY7999).

The world is full of opportunities
If you’re a Finnair Plus member, you can also earn points when you take flights operated by airlines with which Finnair has signed a code-share agreement, even if they’re not Finnair partners. Code-share flights are available to hundreds of top destinations across the globe
A code-share flight always has two flight numbers:
- the Finnair flight number, which starts with the letters “AY”
- the cooperating airline’s flight number
If your ticket has an AY flight number (is issued under the Finnair quota), you’ll earn the same number of points as you would for a normal Finnair flight.
