On all Finnair international flights, you can order a special meal for health or religious reasons. We take dietary needs relating to both ingredient selection and meal preparation into account when designing our special meals and menus.

  • In Economy Class and on leisure flights (AY1000 series) our special meals selection is limited.
  • You can order a special meal by calling the Finnair customer service
  • If you’re a Finnair Plus member travelling on a Finnair scheduled flight, you can order a special meal via My booking. Please submit your order no later than 24 hours before departure.
  • If you’re travelling on a Finnair leisure flight (AY1000 series), you can order a special meal on our website via the Leisure flights supplementary services. Please submit your order via our website no later than 48 hours before departure.
  • If your reservation details change – flight, airline, travel class or departure date – you must submit your meal order again.
We cannot guarantee that the meals served on our flights do not include ingredients that may cause allergies (for example, nuts or fish) or that the cabin does not contain the remnants of such allergens.

For stomach or intestinal problems (BLML).

Does not contain foods or beverages that cause gastric discomfort, such as highly seasoned foods, black pepper, chilli powder, cabbage, cauliflower or fried foods.

Diabetic meal (DBML).

Increased complex carbohydrates, high fibre, low fat, no sugar added. Does not contain fried foods. (Also for leisure flights.)

Gluten-free meal suitable for a person with celiac disease (GFML).

Contains naturally gluten-free ingredients and wheat starch. (Also for leisure flights.)

Low-calorie meal (LCML).

Increased complex carbohydrates, high fibre, low fat. Does not contain fried foods; added fats, oils and sugar; gravies; sauces; or rich desserts.

Low-fat meal (LFML).

Increased complex carbohydrates, high fibre, fats high in unsaturated fatty acids, low dietary cholesterol, low in saturated fatty acids. Does not contain fried foods, sauces high in fat, egg yolks, offal, shellfish, fish roe and caviar, added fats and oils, alcohol-refined sugars, processed meals, or cheeses.

Low-salt meal (LSML).

No salt or salty foods added. Does not contain salt substitutes; stocks; bouillon cubes; commercial soups and sauce mixes; salted, smoked, cured or packaged foods; items in brine; processed cheeses; olives; anchovies; bakery products that include self-rising flour or baking soda; most condiments; gravies; sauces and dressings; garlic; onion; celery salts; or breads.

Low-lactose meal (NLML).

Not suitable for passengers allergic to cow’s milk. Does not contain dairy products, such as milk, yoghurt, cheeses, ice creams, sherbet, puddings, prepared mixes, creamed or breaded vegetables, bread prepared with dairy products, omelettes, crepes, scrambled eggs with milk, cream, butter, creamed or breaded meat, fish, eggs, commercial soups, chocolate, toffee, butterscotch, caramels, or sugar substitutes. (Also for leisure flights.)

Hindu meal (HNML).

Foods prepared according to Hindu customs and respecting Hindu dietary practices and beliefs. Does not contain beef, veal, pork, or raw or smoked fish. Not suitable for vegetarians. (Also for leisure flights.)

Vegetarian Hindu meal (AVML).

Spicy vegetarian combinations with limited use of dairy products. Does not contain eggs, meat and meat products, fish, fowl, or products containing lard and gelatine.

Kosher meal (KSML).

Foods chosen, prepared and served in accordance with Jewish dietary laws and customs. (Also for leisure flights.)

Moslem meal (MOML).

Foods chosen, prepared and served in accordance with Moslem dietary laws and customs. Does not contain pork or pig by-products, gelatine, alcohol, flavouring extracts containing alcohol, or non-white fish meat from species without scales or fins. (Also for leisure flights)

Children’s meal (2–5 years) (CHML).

Soft and easy-to-chew meals. Easily identifiable foods. Healthy choices. (Available to order in Business Class and Economy Class on intercontinental flights.)

Fruit platter (FPML).

Fresh seasonal fruit. (Only available to order in Business Class.)

Vegetarian raw meal (RVML).

A combination of raw fruit and vegetables. Does not contain highly processed foods, additives or preservatives. (Only available to order in Business Class.)

Seafood meal (SFML).

Fish or seafood prepared to local specifications. (Only available to order in Business Class.)

Vegetarian vegan meal (VGML).

Strict-vegetarian foods. Does not contain products from animal sources, meat, meat products, fish, fowl, products containing lard, products containing gelatine, dairy products, eggs, or honey. (Also for leisure flights.)

Vegetarian lacto-ovo meal (VLML).

Vegetarian foods. Does not contain meat, meat products, fish, fowl, products containing lard or products containing gelatine.

Other special meal (SPML).

A special meal created to meet a passenger’s preferences or medical requirements. Order must include specific details of ingredients to be included or avoided. (Only available to order in Business Class.)
