Xi'an

Xi'an

Mesmerising Xi’an is the cradle of the Chinese civilization, seamlessly combining over 3,000-year-old traditions with a modern lifestyle. Home to over 8 million inhabitants, Xi’an charms visitors with scrumptious Shaanxi delicacies, countless historical attractions and a vibrant cultural scene. The city offers endless opportunities to learn about ancient Chinese culture through the many tombs, mausoleums, temples, pagodas and museums scattered throughout the city. And if you’re looking to get some serious souvenir shopping done, head to the ancient Shuyuanmen and Luomashi streets, or to the thrifty university district of Xiao Zhai.

Xi’an also makes a great base for those looking to explore the beautiful Shaanxi region. The breathtaking mountain of Hua Shan, one of China’s Five Great Mountains, is located just 120 kilometres out of the city, making it a great option for a day trip.
