The cabin crew on our quick getaway was exceptional, both on the departing and returning flights. The purser’s welcome and introduction, both of herself and her colleagues, were fantastic on both flights. She came out so that we could see her talk – I’ve never seen a thing quite like it during my travels. This same care and good customer service continued throughout both flights. The crew provided me with very professional help on a night flight when I fainted on my way to the lavatory. I owe my life to the two ladies in the Economy Class cabin crew that day. A big thanks to the staff at Helsinki airport! My elderly mother and I were late because she had forgotten her bag on the bus – and her passport and money were in the bag. We were shown to the information desk and from there to the passport branch of the police. When my mother got her temporary passport, the check-in was already closed. The friendly staff took us to the special luggage desk and called the gate. We were told our bags would not make it to our flight. A warm thanks to you for upgrading me to Business Class without any specific reason. I was coming from Oulu and transferring to Bangkok. Suddenly a friendly-looking Finnair officer walked up to me and asked to see my ticket. After seeing it, she upgraded me to Business Class. It was a lovely experience with the welcome drinks, menus, services etc. I was even able to sleep for 4 to 5 hours on the “bed”, and I wasn’t too tired when continuing my travel to Pattaya Jomtien. Once again, I want to thank the Finnair staff both at the Helsinki Airport and on the plane! Next time I will count my money and really consider flying in Business Class. A warm thank you to Katja F. who did everything she could to help with my cancellation after receiving lousy service from our travel agency. I got hold of a person at the travel agency at 9.40 a.m. – when they were supposed to open at 9 a.m. I hope they’ve now managed to cancel our flight from Kastrup, which we had to cancel due to illness. During hurricane Sandy the terminals and runways at JFK were eerily deserted. Then I got to experience the wonderful feeling of national pride. All of the departures monitors were shining with red colour. Next to every flight there was a red, blinking ‘cancelled’. Then one line was in green: HELSINKI – AY – ON TIME. After reading this, and later on when the Finnair aircraft rolled to its departure gate – the only plane in sight – the feeling was amazing. It felt truly great to be Finnish! Thank you Finnair!
