Adelaide is the capital of South Australia and the city’s popularity as a tourist hot spot is exploding thanks to the abundance of diverse attractions within easy reach of the City of Churches.
Adelaide is compact, making it easy to get around quickly. The city's beaches – such as Brighton, Seacliff and Semaphore – provide a lively interface between land and sea for year-round enjoyment. South of the central business district lies the up-and-coming suburb of Glenelg, awash with trendy coffee houses and boutiques reflecting the town's strong involvement with the arts. Numerous festivals dot the artistic calendar, including the famous Adelaide Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festivals. If you're looking for a more retail-themed excursion you should head to Rundle Mall, the main shopping street which is alive with the hustle and bustle characteristic of Australian cities. As the city's nickname suggests, churches abound along with museums, cultural sights and world-class examples of colonial architecture.
A trip to Adelaide would not be complete without experiencing the nearby Barossa Valley, one of the country's most renowned wine-producing regions. Not to stop there, McLaren Vale and the Clare Valley also produce world-class wines less than an hour away from the central business district. The Adelaide Hills provide stunning views and serene hiking just outside of town. Mount Lofty, the highest point in the range, acts as a perfect lookout to take in the fusion of urban and natural worlds.
You can reach Adelaide with Finnair and the oneworld alliance members' extensive route network.
The airport is located 7 km west of the city centre. Shuttle buses, buses and taxis take passengers into the city and car rental is available in the arrivals hall.
Always remember to check your airline’s terminal and check-in times.
