Paris

Paris

The meeting place for lovers, Paris is true to its reputation: it is hard to imagine a more romantic city. The city of love will steal your heart while you stroll in the Jardin du Luxembourg or along the River Seine, admire the Eiffel tower by night or take in the beautiful views of the city from the hills of Montmartre.

Inhabited by over two million people, Paris is a metropolis filled with magnificent art museums such as the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay and the Picasso Museum as well as world-famous monuments such as Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe. The many cafes in St-Germain-des-Prés are perfect for some café au lait and croissants, and the French kitchen is sure to impress even the most discerning culinary travellers. Those who love to shop will find anything their heart desires from the avenue of Champs-Élysées, the exquisite Avenue Montaigne or the department stores at Boulevard Haussmann. Gourmands should head to the Le Bon Marché department store designed by Gustave Eiffel to visit its La Grande Épicerie, the world-renown food shop.

My travel

Best time to visit:

There is something to do any time of year, but from May to September is the best time to cruise the Seine and enjoy some sunshine.

Fun fact:

The Eiffel Tower was built for the Paris Exposition of 1889 and was originally intended to be a temporary structure. Had Eiffel not come up with the idea of using the tower as a radio mast, it would have been torn down in 1909.
